Ricky Paul, MD, FACOG
Ricky A. Paul, MD, FACOG, was born in Oakdale Louisiana, where he graduated from Plainview High School. His undergraduate degree was obtained at Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, where he received a bachelor’s degree in medical technology. He worked as a medical technologist for four years before entering medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-Shreveport. Dr. Paul’s internship and residency were also completed in Shreveport. He enjoyed his time in Shreveport and always had a special place in his heart for the area.
After residency, Dr. Paul moved to Ville Platte, Louisiana, for private practice. He practiced there for three years and then had an opportunity to move to East Texas to practice with a friend from residency. He practiced in the Marshall and Longview, Texas, area for 17 years. When the opportunity came to work at WK Pierremont, he saw it as an excellent opportunity to give back to the community that gave him so much.
Dr. Paul has a special interest in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. This includes vaginal and laparoscopic hysterectomies that allow same-day discharge from the hospital. He also enjoys taking care of high-risk obstetrical patients. Dr. Paul’s philosophy of practice is to give the patient the best experience possible. He always cares for his patients whether or not he is on call. Patients build relationships with doctors like Dr. Paul, and they appreciate it when he goes out of his way for them. Childbirth is such a special time in a family’s life, and Dr. Paul believes in making it special for each family. When care is needed for gynecologic problems, he always includes the patient in the decision‐making process to help determine the treatment that best fits their needs.
A board-certified OB-GYN (American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology) and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), Dr. Paul feels privileged to be able to serve the Shreveport-Bossier community and surrounding areas. Dr. Paul looks forward to serving an active role in the community. Outside of work, he spends free time with his children. Hunting and fishing are activities he always enjoys with my family.
